as a past high school and college cheerleader, and current coach, here is what I tell the girls who come to me.
First of all....stretch stretch stretch!!!!
Then sit on the floor with your front leg extended in front of you and your back leg in the hurdle position. This will help your muscles "learn" the position that you are trying to accomplish in the jump.
If you are doing a toe touch, then you must have your prep down pretty well. Use your normal prep to do the front hurdler. If you had a little more time, I might suggest that you put 1/2 pound weights on your ankles and jump with them until tryout day. If you feel strong enough to do this, without getting too sore for tryouts....this will improve your jump height. On tryout day, the weights are removed and your jumps will look awesome.
Remember....proper form is always preferred to jump height!
I would much rather see a girl do the jump properly...after making the squad a coach can work on height!
Good luck to you!

Hate to mention but when your dad may not help you, I desire that your mother will. I am a center university cheerleading educate and cheerleading isn't low-priced. Of path center schoolers would not have jobs to pay for camp, uniforms, and so on. and even supposing you would get a task, you don't have time to paintings and pass to after university practices, conferences, and video games.... and keep in mind assignments. You will want anyone to support you pay the charges. Is your cheerleading squad conventional or recreation? A conventional squad is the squad that does the pep rally, cheers at video games from the sidelines, and might do a part time efficiency. A recreation squad is a squad that travels across the country competing. Most of the game squads are co-ed, totally informed, incredibly elaborate stunts, killer flips, you get the factor. Its just like the Bring it On Squads. If your university has a conventional squad, all you have got to do is have a few kind of rhythm and get a former cheerleader or one who has already made the squad to coach you. You would pass to a UCA camp. They will coach you the fundamentals of cheerleading. I consider this would be the pleasant choice. If your squad is a recreation squad, your probabilities of constructing the squad are very narrow until you might have had years of gymnastics. Whatever occurs, I desire you the pleasant of success. Keep making an attempt and paintings difficult. Remember Cheerleading is difficult paintings, if it used to be any simpler, it might be known as Football!

i had trouble with the hurdler too! I used a trampoline to get the jump down, and then when I was used to doing it, i took it to the ground.
if you are having trouble with height, coaches sometimes say to put 1/2 pound weights on your ankels. then when it is time to jump take them off...it works!

well just practice a lot.
and also, if you jump higher, then the toe touch && front hurdler will go better.
also, you might wanna do it a few times on a tramp cause that will help you jump better.
just try your hardest.
good luck!!!!!
