Stretching hot soaks and walking is about the best you can do for a bad back also try to sleep directly on your back with knees bent to take the bind off during the night there are suppliments you can take but stretching and not over stretching the lower back to where you get too sore and give up and it has worked the best for me surgery is a last ditch cure and it will let you know when its ready to be operated on when you can't get off the floor.

You did not mention what your age is, however i also would like to know whether you ride bikes, or sit long hours before the computer this can also be a cause for back pain.
Pollution also plays a vital role spoiling health.
If you are having pain for last three years, it sounds it cannot be completely cured, but you can always control from aggravating and slowly lessen the pain by exercises.
Do not get into serious and heavy exercises, as you already have pain.
Definitely exercises will control your pain, see that exercises are in daily practise, take lots of water.
Avoid heavy food and do not sleep immediately after food.
Take one vitamin tablet or Neurobion tablet it works good.
But if you do not want to take tablets, take five to six dates, one egg every day and balance your diet.
If you are overweight try reducing your weight.
Also do not wear shoes or slippers of high heels. Sleeping on the floor than over the bed also helps, and try avoiding pillows. Sitting erect also prevents to some extent from pain.
Take care.

First thing is trying to figure out what is causing your back pain. The type of work you do, previous injuries, medical conditions, etc.
Many people's back pain is caused by mechanical dysfunction, meaning there is a muscular imbalance somewhere that can cause excess strain on your spine or other muscles.
My suggestion is that if doctors are not helping you can try a number of other medical professionals to help eleviate your pain. Chiropractors and acupuncturists are professionals that can help reduce your pain without you having to do much at all, which is what most people look for. My guess is you don't want to stretch and exercise to help, you are looking for a quick fix. Hopefully this helps.

Back pain can be rid of in just 15 days to three months by doing meditation for an hour daily through the process of self-realization under the guidance of an experienced spiritual teacher.

Instead of of taking allopathic medicines ( which have strong side effects ) you can try Yoga exercises like "Markatasan", "Makarasan" etc after consulting a good Yoga teacher . Different Ayurvedic medicines are also available . You may refer the website divyayoga.com and watch "Astha" wher Swami Ramdevji teaches this. Crores of people have been immensely benefited by this . You may purchase a VCD for this ( of Patanjali Yog Peth ). Please refer

I work with a woman who suffered chronic back pain for years. No conventional medicines gave her relief. After trying EVERYTHING she found relief with an acupuncturist ... she's finally off pain meds ... Hey, it might be worth a try.
