I think the man is going to be in the Hall of Fame someday. Kobe can score (most of the time) at will. However, with the international game being a team effort, people view him as being selfish.
Also, I wouldn't call it inconsistancy, but he has streaks where he is an MVP candidate, and then he has a bad game.
So I guess what I am saying is that he seems to be superhuman at times, and then he has a bad game (which anyone is prone to).

its not his skills that make him overrated, he is a really good player, its the media hype and his attitude, people just get sick of hearing about him, there are other great players out there that don't get half as much attention as he does, and they play just as hard....he may be better than many of these guys, but not everyone wants to hear about Kobe 24-7. As a result many say he is overrated...but it does help that he has a great team that GIVES him the opportunity to make 4 straight 50 point games, and often they are kinda overlooked

that seems to be the buzzword of the 21st century. People that use the word think they sound intelligent and are provoking thought while they downgrade a players performance that they don't like. They will dwell on the player's faults and hardly acknowledge their accomplishments
it seems that no star player is immune to this label. Derek Jeter has arguably the toughest job in sports. He's the shortstop for the New York Yankees. He's won 4 titles and was runner-up in the MVP voting last year. Yet, I know of no other player who has been called "overrated" more than he.

i think of Kobe winning a championship this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days placed his top off as between the greats yet his overall performance knocked him down a peg or 2 additionally. If the warmth gets to the finals and that they have got their chemistry going and the Lakers are contained in the finals additionally and if he performs large then i think of his inventory will bypass up in the event that they win however the superb ever? Like I reported i think of Kobe in this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days finals fairly in game 7 the place it became arguably he maximum mandatory game of his profession and he particularly tutor why he's no longer contained in the comparable communique as Jordan. yet another question must be asked if Gasol performs a large game or a large finals and if he's the adaptation maker contained in the sequence by way of fact for my section Gasol is the adaptation makes with the Lakers usual winning and dropping will he get the compliment that he ought to settle for?

I'm a Kobe hater. Not because i think all he can do is score, but because thats all he tries to do. and thats why the lakers are mediocre.
If kobe passed the ball more often it would be beneficial for both him AND the team.
*It will force opposing teams to guard everyone, not just bryant. that gives him room to make more open shots and drive down the lane b.c. the defenders arent bunched up on him.
*it would improve the confidence AND ability of the players around him. him not passing doesnt exactly express confidence in his teammates.
*If players start becoming bitter towards him in the locker room it could effect the team chemistry on the court. and thats important.

People "over rate" Kobe by saying he is the greatest player ever, which is ridiculous! Lets be fitting and say Kobe is the best player in the NBA today, instead of "overrating" him with the greatest ever tag.

Wow, every answer came from haters...hes selfish, he doesn't get assists...*sigh* stfu with that bull@#$! AN ASSIST ISN'T HOW MANY TIMES A PLAYER PASSES THE BALL...HOLY @#$! WHY CAN'T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT?!??! If Kobe shoots alot of course hes going to get the points, but what about Nash!? if he passes alot of course hes going to get all those assists...plus Nash has people he can pass to and they MAKE their shots! AND WHEN DO ASSISTS EVEN MATTER?? I didn't see John Stockton win any MVP's...what's up with that?!? people just hate Kobe...nothing we can do, if anyones selfish its them, they expect Kobe to do EVERYTHING and to the guy that said if he began to pass more they'd win...SHUT UP...that was a nice 7 game losing streak wasn't it?? YOU probably like them to lose, and Kobe is only following Phil's instructions, he told Kobe to shoot more!!! Kobe=not overrated!

Because he can't win a championship without Shaq. He can't score 50 points every night, so when he runs out of gas, so will his team.
