over the summer im going to egypt?

i live online and i wanna find out how i can get internet access on my laptop over there?
would a wireless netgear from here work? what do i need to do?? i also want to know if i can use my texting over there.my phone's verizon .. plz answer me w.o saying umm idk

First, laptop internet access. This depends entirely upon local resources. Most international hotels will have wireless access for their guests, though don't expect the reliability you're used to here in the states. Other than the hotel, your choices are going to be limited. Your only real choices will be dial-up (assuming the hotel has that type of service) or a kiosk or internet cafe. They do exist in the major cities, but you may have to look a little bit.

As for your phone, I don't think Verizon's service plans include Egypt. They may have a reciprocal agreement with another carrier in Egypt that would allow access, but that's doubtful. Even if they do, the cost will be extraordinary. You'll have to call Verizon to be sure. Absent that, you'd need a true satellite phone, such as iridium.

It depends if they have phone service. I have talked to people that are over in egypt while online. So I suppose that you can. They make wireless cards that connects to the internet over the use of a wireless phone tower.
