This is a stupid question because I doubt anyone on here can predict the future. noone will know until that time comes. Honestly though I don't THINK anything will happen but you never know.

The Mayan calendar doesn't end "abruptly" or any other way on 12-21-2012. It simply rolls from 12 Baktuns to 13 Baktuns, much like our calendar did going from 1999 to 2000, except that a baktun is about 396 years long.
Since the calendar isn't ending, any predictions based on this falsehood are also false.

Some people think that the world will end on that date, but I personally think that it means that one era will end and another will begin. Maybe something really intense might happen to bring in the new era, and end the old one, who knows, but the time is not that far away now, and whatever happens should be interesting to say the least. Then again, whatever it is, may not even be obvious to most people, at all. *sm*

If there were still some Maya astronomers around, they probably would starting to count from 1 again. The Maya calendar is cyclical, and in 2012 one big cycle is over, that's all.

Probably nothing. The astronomers could have not had time to finish the calendar, or it is a new cycle.
