they need to be able to see your nails to te make sure your oxygen levels are good...if your levels drop your nails will take on a blueish color instead of the normal pink...they can also press on your nails and count the number of seconds it takes for them to return to the normal pink color..so it's for your safety they ask no nail polish

You're not supposed to have anything that may contain metal on your body. Nail polish contains some metal.

They do this because if something goes wrong in surgery, they might have to do an emergency X-Ray or CAT scan, etc. and those machines won't work properly if there is metal anywhere on your body.

Leave it on if you want to take the risk, but IMO removing it is far less hassle than spending an extra six months in the hospital should something go wrong and the X-ray can't pick it up..

I additionally love crimson however with my dermis tone I'd appear like Moricia Addams if I wore it. I like unique colours for unique seasons. In the spring I opt for pastels, in the summertime I opt for shimmer, within the fall I opt for a darker colour and the iciness I take a look at the crimson nail polish however I do not put on it very lengthy.

It might be because they want to keep a pulse-ox probe on one of your fingers and they frequently don't read well when someone has nail polish on.

The pulse-ox keeps track of your pulse and also how well-saturated your blood is with oxygen.

They don't need any chemicals on your body (including perfume, makeup etc) for sanitary reasons etc. I just had a laparoscopy done 2 weeks ago and thought it was weird too.

they need to do a pusle-ox (Sp?) which checks the level of Oxygen in your system... and it is on your fingers.

Also, they need to make sure to check for coloring in your skin to make sure nothing wrong is going on.
