LOL. its just a programme. and sci-fi at that. dont take too much notice of the details. if you think about it that hard none of it will make sense(not that it does anyway).

Yes, it's almost as bad as when Conan the Barbarian appeared as a robot in that Terminator film or as when Rocky the champion boxer claimed to be Judge Dread.
Actually the reason why the two characters have more than a passing resemblance is explained in the show. They look so similar because they are related (cousins in fact). The characters have different names and personalities.
As a point of interest The Brigadier, Romana (the second Romana that is), the 6th Doctor, and Steven Taylor all were played by actors who had previously appeared in Doctor Who. This is pretty common practise on a lot of TV shows.

Didn't you realize that Actors and Actresses can in fact play different characters, and that the lady who is to be Doctor Who's new assistant is a different character than the one who got killed.
It is called acting, sometimes people who have a bit part in a series, can come back as another, even a more prominent Character.
No the Makers of Doctor Who do not think we take no notice, they have announced that the lady was another character in an earlier episode, they told us, the Radio Times told us, the news told us.
We all know, and the makers of Doctor Who know we know.

She was playing a totally different part Rusell T Davis was so impressed with freema agyman that he called her back to play martha jones. Its not like they are trying to hide the fact she was in it before and got killed. loads of actors get bit parts in shows before they get picked foe a main role in the same programme.

Same Actress Different Character... they explained why but I can't remember. lol
It also wouldn't be the first time they have done this, they had Colin Baker as a baddie and then cast him as the sixth Doctor.
