He is very smart, and really likes video games, and also just technology in general. I wanted to give him something like a toy, nothing serious. Plus, I don't have much money. He also watches anime, but does not read manga. I don't know what to give him, his birthday is next month.

He doesn't have an ipod because he doesn't want one. The animes he likes are Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Eureka Seven, and a few others. I would get him an accesory for something, but I'm not sure what he already has.

Well no, he isn't my boyfriend-- yet. And neither of us are really into sports or even being in direct sunlight. I asked him what he wants, and he said he is content with what he has, so he wants nothing, but I'm still going to give him a present.

How about dinner and time with you? You are his girlfriend (yes?) so give him something that represents your relationship with him. His friends could give him a toy or a video game, so could his parents. But what could his romantic interest give him that no one else could?
Another point I'd like to make is how much of his technology interest do you share with him? If not much, then you may just want to set aside some time to be with him when he does these things. You may not, and if this is the case, that is still okay. At least you tried.
The point is, be genuinely yourself and give him a gift that he will know could only be from you. Bear in mind that a gift need not be an inaminate object. it could also be an experience (don't think just sex - that's just too easy). By this I mean, like going skating, rock climbing, dancing, hiking or whatever. Make it memorable!
If he likes/loves you, then he'll love it too.

you know all those stuff coming out in technology? maybe you can go to an apple store and buy him an accessory for his ipod or computer. or about the anime, you can totally give him some limited edition dvds.
