Usually what people decide to do with their life (or purpose in life) is considered a decison to be made. But when you find your 'calling' it feels like you are not choosing it...it's like it is calling you. You get pleasure and have a passion for doing it aside from the daily day to day doing it. You are usually good at it and seem to learn it with less effort than others may have to put into it. Religious professions almost always refer to thier paths as a 'calling'....as God Himself is choosing them. But the argument can be made that serving the Lord can be done in a multitude of ways....and we all have to look into our hearts to find our passion and our calling.

if someone says "true calling" they are probably meaning their purpose in life- what they are supposed to do in this world.
