A tough question to answer. Depends on which version of the vampire you want information on. A modern one? Dracula? The variety is limitless with this ever changing world.
In the world of Stephanie Meyer, author of Twilight and New Moon, vampires are extremely fast, able to run past your vision and not be seen. They also cannot be seen in daylight because their skin will glisten like diamonds. Vampire's eyes in the books reflect upon their diet. The "vegetarians" who drink animal blood have golden eyes, those who drink human's have red eyes. After being transformed, the vampire's skin is white and as hard as marble. Their eyes are red due to leftover blood that remains. Some vampires in this series have special "powers" such as seeing the future or able to hear other people's thoughts.
But in most all stories and legends, one factor remains the same. You need to have been bitten to become a vampire. The bite is traditionally placed on the neck near a major vein so that the flow of venom can be circulated faster. It takes three days of pain for the transformation to be complete, as well. Usually after a transformation, the skin is pale and eyes red.
The diet is simple. Blood. Any food that is ingested will be vomited up because their body is no longer able to digest it.
Other Vampire legends go as far as becoming a bat and having extremely sharp teeth. Others say that they live in the woods, waiting for an easy meal. It all depends.
To kill a vampire, the legend goes that you need to place a silver bullet through their heart, a stake through their heart, or simply place something silver against their skin. Other books say (Twilight and New Moon) that they have to be ripped into pieces and then burned.
Vampires bleed venom and if they had eaten (a lot) recently, blood.
I hope I have helped.

Did you mean Vampire Bat? Vampire bats really do exist, but only three species in Central and South America. The vampire bats (Desmodus rotundus) have a wingspan of about eight inches and a body about the size of an adult's thumb. If not for their diet, people would not pay much attention to these small bats. Vampire bats feed on the blood of large birds, cattle, horses, and pigs. However, they donot suck the blood of their "victims". Using their sharp teeth, the bats make tiny cuts in the skin of a sleeping animal. The bat's saliva contains a chemical that keeps the blood from clotting. The bats then lap up the blood that oozes from the wound. Another chemical in their saliva numbs the animal's skin and keeps them from waking up. A vampire bat finds its prey with echolocation, smell, and sound. Then they use special heat sensors in their noses to find veins that are close to the skin.
Scientists have discovered that vampire bat saliva is better at keeping blood from clotting than any known medicine. Vampire bats may one day help prevent heart attacks and strokes. Vampire bats are one of the few bat species that are considered a pest.

first off vampires are not ghost. vampires are/were real. in medieval times vampires were a race/tribe of people who were obsessed with blood and hated the sun because of their fair pale skin. they only came out at night to stop their skin from being sunburnt. they would sharpen their teeth to penetrate the skin easier than tearing it open. they naturally went for the jugular vein because of the amount of blood flowing through it. they had this belief that other sin-free blood would purify thier blood. as for the sleeping in coffins and count dracula, the coffins started when Dracula took in the belief. Dracula was an actual count but wasnt the father of all vampires. Draculal thought that being closer to death at all times would ready him when it was his time..
