Point Mutations:
Result from addition or subtraction of ONE nucleotide base, or the substitution of one for the other. Point mutations include Silent mutations, Missense mutations and Nonsense mutations (as well as frameshift but these occur slightly differently as a nucleotide is usually deleted then a new one inserted and the whole chromosome will be read wrong).
Chromosomal Mutations:
These are more extensive alterations than point as they may change the position of a DNA segment without actually losing any DNA information or subsequently may irretrievably remove entire sections of DNA, these types of mutations include deletions, duplications, inversions and translocations.
Hope this helps and isn't too confusing :)

The two kinds of mutations are point mutations and frame shift mutations.
Point mutations involve just one incorrect nucleotide. Frame shift mutations are more serious, and involve a deletion of a nucleotide, meaning that the entire set of nucleotides in a strand is moved up several units. Frame shift mutations are very serious because they affect large sections of the DNA code.

Could be divided up in lots of ways
Small Error Mutations & Large Scale Mutations
Deletions & Insertions
Deleterious & Advantageous (and Neutral)
