Head for the Victoria Quarter in Leeds, but be ready to pay top money!
The shops there are gorgeous, failing that, Debenhams is 2 minutes away and they have a lovely collection of dresses suitable for proms, balls, etc

House of Fraser in Leeds is good. Also Debehams in Huddersfield or Leeds has a good range of affordable but lovely prom/bridesmaids dresses.
