The movie "Napoleon Dynamite" is set near Idaho Falls in a town with about 75% of its citizens who are members of the LDS Church. In other words, Napoleon Dynamite the character was very likely a mormon.
Jon Heder himself is indeed a mormon. He has also appeared in other movies, but he is most famous for Napoleon Dynamite.

He's from Poccatello, Idaho, which has a lot of Mormons in it (though it isn't completely Mormonville). The actor is Mormon, but the character . . . no one knows. I wouldn't doubt that if you asked the actor, he would say something along the lines of "probably" though. So that's what I'll say: "probably."
