My neighbors girl gets bullied at her high school for not being one of the kids into music, drinking and partying. Because she'd rather do "nerdy" stuff like computer games, etc...people think she's from another planet. This seems to be a common thing these days. Have you noticed this?? Lately she's began making up stuff to tell people (i.e. saying she was at a party that didn't exist) just so people won't mock her.

i think its abt living life the fullest and enjoying yourself and benig the talk of the town, not hte laffing stock of hte crowd. living your life the fullest is hedonism and that's an ego-boost for those who are too lazy and too dumb and too selfish to work hard for their rewards. its abt knowing ppl and getting around and if it means being a ****, then ppl may actually go for that. it's also abt emulating hollywood and trying to create a microcosm of that in a school setting. i never experienced teasign for being a nerd, but i know its not common. i go to a rather good school and theres a lot of corruption amongst the students and administration, but there are others who are literally nerds and have a 98 average and take 8 aps by the time they leave high school, and 3 of them ended up at harvard this year =O. so basically tell your niegbor's daughter not to worry, b/c being a nerd is where its all at in the long run. you party your *** all night long in high school, hte only job you'll get is a cashier (if your lucky) at a local fast food chain with your lovely ged, or of course you can be a hooker or harlot and get your capital that way, but of course, why degrade yourself even more and sell your body.

She should have more confidence, after all, the only ones who believe anything other than partying and sports is nerdy, are those who cannot grasp any knowledge outside of partying and sports.
Tell her to hang in there because once she's in college, things change drastically. No one will bother her because she's smart and not into mindless activities, and she'll gain more friends because of that.

Yep, i actually wondered this too, because i love science, i was a "nerd", but then i realized that i was going to college, and they were going to sit at home, smoke weed and never get a good job, so i could deal with the bullying.

because the loud semi retarded kids with the rich parents set the norm. when i was in high school the norm was to get good grades, try to graduate early, and get a bunch of AP classes in. i took part in forming that norm. if you want to form a norm, get some friends together and use peer pressure on the rest of the student body to attempt to change things so they go your way.

I'm just like her and if that is considered a nerd, then so be it. I don't really see what's so great about partying and acting like a drunk racoon.
