I have very fair slightly yellow-toned skin and dark red-brown hair. My eyes are strange mix of rusty brown and olive green (amber or light hazel?).

What makeup colors I should use?

Actually i never believed that youve got "certain colours to avoid" with eye makeup cos of your eyes

buttt if you want to know some fool proof colours for your eyes:

deep purple, deep red, deep browns, deep greens

since your eyes are a really light colour, something dark would be really dramatic and would really bring out your eyes.

For a day time and less dramatic look:

Neutrals ALWAYS looks best.

I would also reccoment trying PINK.. itll look very unique and bring lotsa attention to it too!

I always believe in standing out and being brave in makeup. So im gonna say you can go with the same colours as your eyes! just play down the other parts of your face! =) nude lips and pink cheeks!

due to skin tone: Stay away from yellow. Ive got yellow toned skin and anything BRIGHT yellow is a nono..but it can be toned down together with other colours like green. Gold is a go-ahead.

First of all, to all these crazies claiming green eyes aren't a real eye color - that's NOT TRUE. To get green eyes you must have the genes for green eyes! They are in fact the rarest color, because the genes themselves are rare. All that talk about green eyes being a form of blue and so on, that's out of biology books from the 30s and 40s. These people need to get their facts straight. Wikipedia is right, I've read the same thing in other encyclopedias and once I asked my eye doctor, only 2% of the world's population has green eyes.

if you want your eyes to look green
*grey *dark purple

if you want your eyes to look brown
* pink * blue

I would sugguest with redish hair to go for green its a better contrast. Try this : a thin dark purple line above the eyelid ( with powder) black crayon on the inside of the eye, with mascara ...or the same with grey ..the green will pop out

good luck

ciao!

Well Brown eyeshadow goes good with brown eyes and pink and any light color goes with green eyes.

well if your pale you have to be careful of washing out your face. you could always use bronzer on your cheeks to balance this. but as far as your eyes go, purples bring out brown eyes (amber like i have.) the brighter the purple the more your eyes will pop! but for everyday wear i suggest a lilac shimmer on the lid to the crease. then blend with your fingers a brown-grey matte shadow from your crease to the brow bone. this will define your eyes. browns make wash you out if they have a lot of red hues in them. but too dark of a color may wash you out as well. with dark eyes you can play with color that many people with blue eyes can't. so have fun with color but remember to stay away from reds.
