For some reason, I am not feeling good about myself lately. I am not sure why. I do not know what to do to boost up my self esteem. Any ideas?

well, I have very low self esteem, and always have.My counselor, does exersises with me like:

She'll have me sit in front of a mirror, and write a poem about me, and the way I look,I'm not allowed to use any neggatives.

Sometimes, she'll take me to the park, or anywhere that has some sort of nature, and make me compare my self to it(ie, i'm beautiful and free, like a bird.or I'm precious, yet secrative, like a rose.

on one or two ocassions, depending on how I do for that month, with the self esteem, she'll take me to sign up for a free, local girls pageant, and she'll have me practice walking, like I love me,she'll have me say, like a thousand times"I'm better than anyone else here, and I love myself".Usually that works for me,and I win.

See, with me though,I have bad relapses, one minute i'll be doing great, thinking I'm work something, the next I keep my head down low, feeling like I don't deserve to live.I gave you the best exercises, I know, that are used with me,but I think the exercises that suits you best, really depends on your age and attitude.like the pageant one,i'm 14, so anything, that let's teens get in a pretty dress and have fun,we'll jump to.It just depends,I wish you luck .

P.S. why don't you try writing some poetry, about water and you, make some type of significance, comparing you and water.Me, I lovvveee water, and the way it flows,so, sometimes,I'll just write poetry about the way water.......(whatever I think of,lol).

HOPE THIS HELPS, I THINK I'VE WRITTEN ENOUGH,LOL!

What happened recently that made you feel this way? I, too, went through this in the past. The first thing I did was start dressing to make myself feel more comfortable. I don't mean dress like you are looking for trouble (if you know what I mean), but you can dress in a nice shirt, jeans, do your hair, put on some lipgloss, etc,. Then I found something I liked to do, which was write poetry. I wrote down my emotions that were making me feel "bad" about myself and then exchanged the words with "good" words. It may sound funny, but it worked. I found friends that shared the same common interests (ie,. going to the movies, mall, park) I finally figured out what was causing me to feel this way. In my case, it was the man I was with. I dropped him... LOL I hope this helps. Take care!! Jennifer

Pick one thing you love to do everyday, and make sure you do it. Like taking a warm bubble bath, lounge in the tub with a fragrant candle lit. Or take a small space in your house and make it into something special: put little knick-knacks there, pictures, shells, and other things you like to look at. There you'll have a sanctuary. Go for a walk- your mind usually clears when you're out in the fresh air. Call a good friend you haven't spoken to in a long time, arrange to get together for lunch. Do anything that makes you feel good. Eventually you'll be so filled up with "feel good" things you won't have time to be down. Good Luck.

This may sound too simple, but it's not. Reach for the thought that feels better. You will find that by actively looking for thoughts that make you feel better, other more positive thoughts are attracted and build upon themselves.

We all sometimes feel isolated and unhappy about ourselves. But what you don't realize is that to those around you, you are someone special and unique. Seek out friends and interact with them. Do something nice for someone that they may not expect. An old friend once said that the best way to solve your problem is to help someone else solve theirs.

Set aside some time for yourself! Do the things you enjoy most, whether with a friend, or by yourself. It tends to help sometimes to have a day just to make yourself happy. =)

Talk to a person who is close to you,
or think about yourself why are you in this world,
what is your aim in life (just 60 or 70 years life) ,
think about the immortal life (the life after death)
