I think she's not being fair...the song Pride (in the name of love) has a tribute for MLK...I mean if the band didn't like african americans I don't think they would sing/write about it...we've been friends for 3 yrs now, I love her so much but she really hurts my feeling calling me a racist...this morning she said, she's not the white girl's friend anymore...refering to me, I started to cry and she smiled,I don't know what to do we live together, we even have the same classes...I'm starting to think she's doing this because she has a crush in Sean the guy I'm dating, Sean is an african american and she's always making NOT funny jokes about us..... what do I do? :/

Your friends an idiot.
You know that Bono just recieved one of the highest awards ever given by the NAACP at the Image Awards. This is a respected man who has given his life to ending AIDS and poverty not just in Africa but world wide.

This person is obviously NOT a very good friend and is someone you would do better without. Toxic personalities do very little good for the lives they infect.

Also, how in the HELL does anyone get racism out of U2 fans? You're racist because you like an all-white band? That's as stupid as someone accusing me of being racist because my favorite actor is Marlon Brando and not Samuel L. Jackson. U2 have preached a message of equality and unity for nearly 30 years. They have TWO songs dedicated to Dr. King and his message. Bono has done SO MUCH for Africa and rallied so much support. But he's a racist why... because he's white?

Your friend makes race an issue where there is no issue. People like that normally use "racism" as the excuse for why they're so unhappy.

I'm a U2 fan and have been since 1984. I also work for a law firm made up of two African-American attorneys. My clients are normally minorities and I treat each one equally and a lot of my attitude towards race and equality came from my being a U2 fan.

Your friend needs to get a life. Tell her she's racist for making yor race an issue.

Seems like she is not a very good friend if she smiles while you are crying. I like U2 and I'm not getting the connection of how listening to them makes you a racist. Talk with her privately or with a mutual friend about your feelings. Tell her how the demeaning comments are hurting you and how you think her jealously may be the reason why. If she doesn't take you seriously then I suggest you find another roommate and reevaluate your friends.

Well her problem is jealousy and not you been a racist. Just tell her sorry but if you say I'm a racist well it's only your opinion. And tell her you and you bf are goingt o think about it later in bed and that will really make her mad. And also tell her if you don't want to fbe friends well guess what I can make more friends, So have a nice life. But she's jealous and want you bf and she will try anything to get him.

Your friend is really immature. It sounds like you may have grown up more mentally in these last three years than her.

Plus, you are spending less time with her than with your bf I imagine.

Maybe try to set up a few dates with only her if you haven't for a while, see if you can rekindle the friendship. But probably, it may be time to give that friendship some space and time. It may come back later, it may not...such is the way with human relationships.

Sounds like your friend is jealous, and sometimes when you're mad at someone it's hard to tell them exactly why, so it comes out as whatever you can think of that would hurt their feelings. From what you said, those comments make no sense whatsoever. Ask her what's really going on, what is she really mad about. Offer to listen...

I think you are entirely correct about your friend being jealous of your relationship with Sean.

She's lashing out at you because of her own immaturity and personal weakness.

You might want to consider not being her friend anymore. Calling you a racist is not something a real friend would do.
