Definitely, have you been in a hospital lately?? Nurses today have little time to spend with each patient and an actual full fledged nurse may only come in your room at medicine time. The rest of the time theysend nurses helpers. I had open heart surgery recently and that was my experience - I was in the hospital a little over 3 weeks and it wasn't very pleasant.

No, it's not. Considering that the hallmark of the medical profession has always been restoring to life, it's strikingly appropriate.

The medical profession has always been steeped in religious philosophy as well as science- the image of nurses as angels stems from the "mystery"of medicine when it first emerged during the Graeco-Roman period.

The medical profession was so profound, religious, and mysterious that people needed to find a fitting emblem for their wonder- hence, they made a god. The snake on the pole is a cultural portmanteu of Moses' bronze snake on the pole and the Greek god of medicine's snake on a pole. Hence, the twin snakes in the US hospital system logo. And, along with this god, they made angels.

Thus, the doctors were gods, the nurses were angels. The classic, comforting emblem will never be "outdated."

Case closed.

NO, they are women (and nowadays men too) who are there for money purposes most-like the majority nowadays of the scientists of Medicine- .And even those with a true calling, and the human touch, after a while of dealing with the dynamics of that majority -plus,the insurance, pharmaceutical, and other Business People swarmed around the medical professions- or the Lead taken by the likewise minded, are bound to find their angelical halo fading away and wings tarn by the crowd congruent in profession but not confession.Fallen angels are after all, angels nevertheless who dont believe anymore in what they are doing,or who they should be,and if at all become bystanders or at the lowest, mercenaries of the humane Care instinct.Said to be easier develped or innate to females.Worst than a whore, who may sell her body but not her Heart.

PS_Devils,even in the white.
Only the true called in the Soul, and those of higher minds, can walk above and be shinier even more than white, sparkling diamonds, because that crowd.Being a blessing for the patient, more rejoiced and comforted in the heart with compassion, than bowels alone with "professionality".

PS2_Dedication may bring you places, even in your career,Life, but Passion and the Heart is what set the difference between the Genius, and genuine,living_and the imitators, followers,no matter how talented.Go the extra distance.
Mention to Burt Lancaster's role in <> And may then you be a player not along those in white but among the true Angels

No it is not outdated, it is just a little off the mark. Nurses have the ability to save your life, but Angels have the ability to help save your soul. To help steer you away from trouble and do the right thing.

Yes I believe so.In Australia there is a shortage of nurses in hospitals these days and they don't have time to be compassionate and caring. Also training is now done at uni not in the hospitals as it once was and unfortunately some of them are above themselves....equating themselves with doctors.

some nurses are angels but the assistants and aides are the ones who actually spend the most time caring for the patients. There are always exceptions of course.

No. Not all nurses know their job. & some do it for all the wrong reasons.....Money. So the answer is No I do not see them as angels. Angels don't expect money in return for their kindness they give others.
