How do you make the foundation for a fake community model?

I'm interested in constructing a small model town. Where can I find the material to make land, grass, and trees?

Model Railroading supplies are perfect for this !! You can get the buildings in 1/50 O-Scale, 1/87 HO Scale, or 1/160 N Scale.

If you're looking to buy it you might look at hobby shops selling model trains. I know they sell items for the environment of the train set.
