A couple months ago it started saying like f:/$$$kttyt drive could not be found every now and then.. Then it got more frequent and more frequent till it just stopped workign all together. It still powers up, and I can hear the disks spinning, and it will connect to the computer but I cannot save anything or access anything or even seen my files or folders... What should I do?

Hi mp4asc,

Your drive is failing. You need to salvage your data. Turn it on it's side and try it. That often repositions the drive head & bearings and will make the drive work.

You can also try freezing the drive but we have never had success with that tactic. Even so if laying it on its side doesn't work give it a try. Put it in the freezer for 30 minutes & then try it.

Good Luck,

Norm

Check the parallel data bus cable or serial port cable or USB or FSB..Then check if appropriate harddisk drive software is available and installed for your hard drive..if not then run "update driver" from control panel as usual..then again if your drive still doesn't work then there can be some hardware incompatiability or technical defects...contact your system's manufacturer and service provider for information details.

sounds like your external drive is fried.....**** happens. I would have taken those warnings as an opportunity to buy a new external drive.... especially when they were increasing...

If your lucky, you may get it to read one more time - but I'd have a USB drive plugged in so you can copy all your stuff.....
