I am pregnant for the 5th time. With my first two pregnancies, I put on way too much weight---the first was about 60 pounds, and the second was about 60 pounds as well---the bad part was that I hadn't lost the weight I gained with the first pregnancy, so I was already overweight when I gained with the second pregnancy. It was very hard, but after I had my second, I exercised and dieted and lost that weight. It's always possible to lose weight after the birth. During the pregnancy is no time to diet.
If you have gained too much weight, then right now is the time to look back and reaccess your eating habits. Sit down and write what you normally consume during a day. Think of healthy substitutes that you would enjoy instead. Everyday make a change in your diet for the better--less junk more health food. And I know that when pregnant you feel so hungry you could eat a house--but remember that's just your body signals to make sure that you eat during pregnancy--it's not really how hungry you are--make yourself stop eating as soon as you feel satisfied. Don't eat to the point of being stuffed.
Just remember that you CAN NOT undo the weight that you have gained thus far. If you diet, then you will risk harming your baby in a huge way by depriving him/her of essential nutrition he needs to grow and develop. You dieting could effect the baby for the rest of it's life by impairing it--so don't even think about it. Look to tomorrow and make a change for the better. Don't focus on that extra weight--if anything think of it as the price of having a happy, healthy baby.

Too much weight gain poses a risk to both you and your baby. If you were in a normal weight range for your height before pregnancy, you should gain about 25-35 lbs. If you were overweight before, these numbers should be less. You doctor should be monitoring your weight gain and will be able to tell you if you are gaining too much. Just remember that you really don't need to increase your caloric intake by extreme amounts while pregnant. Also, don't use pregnancy as an excuse to eat anything and everything. You should still eat healthy! Sweets and snacks should still be in moderation! You should also try to walk and get light exercise everyday. Try a 20-30 minute walk once a day. Good luck!

Try to make sure you are eating healthy foods and snacks. You need about an extra 300-500 calories per day. Your weight gain at 15 weeks should be between 8-10 pounds. Talk w/ your doc at your next visit if you feel it is more than that. You may be able to see a nutritionist or dietician to help you figure out a plan.

The amount of additional calories you need per day while pregnant is equal to TWO apples...yeah right. Some man must have thought that up! That's not much is it? It's okay honey, you're busy creating another human being and it makes you hungry. Try to eat fruit and veggies as snacks, eat lean protein, too. You'll do fine, the weight comes off when you breast feed. Pushing the baby around in their stroller is good for both of you, so keep that in mind. Taking walks is good low impact exercise. Stay healthy mama, and good luck with your new baby. It's so much fun!!

There is nothing wrong with gaining weight during pregnancy. A lot of times u will end up losing that baby weight after pregnancy. I had 3 kids and Im down to 130 at 5'3. My youngest is 1 yr. If you are concerned, ask your doctor about a diet that is good for you.

I think a talk with your doctor shld help. If he says, this is a temporary state, then let it be. After the birth, make sure you go for a good massage to break down the body fat and healthy diet and exercise shld also be observed after the massage. If your doctor says your food intake currently is not healthy, try changing it to a healthier one. When I was pregnant, I lost weight but my baby gain weight. Doctor says it's fine. But after the birth, my shape is not what it used to be. I went for a massage 2 years too late so now my tummy is sagging really bad and my thighs are thunder thighs. So, after birth is the day you really nd to take care of your body

Have a baby... it usually helps lose a lot of weight.
All kidding aside, you need to become overweight. Your body is retaining nutrients so it can sustain both you and your baby. It would be hazardous to your health if you lost too much weight. I know it's no fun to gain weight, but it is only temporary. You'll need to do plenty of exercise and maintain a healthy diet for sure, but don't starve yourself (light exercise, nothing too stressful).
