"rich countries export manufactured goods at high prices which keep the country rich. "
NOT too likely.
This is the reason that US has such a large trade deficit.
What products do we export to China, for example? Oil maybe?

I can site one example with our trade. Several years ago, not sure today, we exported wood products, not construction grade, to Japan. What did we get in return? Plywood.
Japan does not have an abundance of trees, as we do. Their labor to produce the plywood was much less than in the US.

This is an example of outsourcing, a major problem for the US today. If you were to visit El Paso, TX., you would learn that 3,000 trucks per day cross our border headed North.
Mucho trucks laden with farm products are part of that trade.
That's just one crossing point!
Does anyone think that we ship any of those to Mexico?
Viva NAFTA!
