If you have a pet in school (like a class pet), maybe ask your mom and your teacher if you can take it home over the weekend,or vacation. That way, you can see if you liked taking care of a pet and if your mom likes it. That is how me and my sister convinced our parents to get us two chinchillas (which FYI, are fantastic pets. Check out chincare.com if you actually consider taking me seriously).

I highly doubt your mom is an animal hater. Most likely she knows you are not responsible enough to care for a pet at the time, and she doesn't want to be left to take care of it. Repsect her wishes and wait to get one when you are older and on your own.

You can bring a pet into your life without bringing it into your home. Volunteer at a shelter or offer to help a neighbor with a pet.
Rescue groups often need people to help.
When you have your own home you can have all the pets you want. Good luck.
