I khow lead to change into gold by proceess of transmutation by bombarding with neatrons how do they do so?is there any other element being prodused artifisially..hey!uranium just strucks me is it synthetic.?is it related to holocaust?

Which holocaust are you talking about ? Not the ones that devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki, because, as far as I remember, the two atom bombs used in those attacks contained plutonium.

Uranium is NOT a synthetic element - it occurs naturally. Well, at least the nuclides 238, 235 and 234 occur naturally. Other nuclides have to be prepared synthetically. At the time plutonium was being manufactured in the Manhattan Project, it was believed that it did not occur naturally. However, it has since been found that it does occur naturally in extremely small quantities.

There are some elements that do not occur at all in nature, even in minute quantities. Most of these are the transuranium elements. These are elements with nos. 93 upwards, starting from neptunium Others are americium, curium, berkelium, californium, einsteinium, fermium, mendelevium, lawrencium etc. There are a few others with atomic nos. lower than 92 that have to be synthesised, such as francium and promethium.

By the way, don't you have a spell checker ?

Uranium is not synthetic. There is no relation between the element Uranium and the Holocaust. Also, all elements with an atomic number higher than Uranium are synthetic. The process occurs because some nuclei absorb the neutron shot into them and split apart (nuclear fission) forming lighter nuclei.

yes, I have heard of them. They are the mostly elements near the end of the periodic table. But let me ask you a question. Where in the world do you get this idea that uranium is synthetic? Seriously, research the elements before coming to conclusions that are wrong.

uranium isn't synthetic, it can be found naturally, but rarely. it had nothing to do with the holocaust. as for making synthetic elements (most of the last ones on the periodic table) they use a particle accelerator to bombard atoms together to make a new one. particle accelerators can be massive (13 miles in diameter)

for more information on them, go to : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particle_accelerators
