Galapagos tortoises commonly have an incredibly long lifespan.

However, the longest lived tortoise in recorded history is Tui Malila. She was a tortoise given to the Tongan royal family by Captain James Cook. She lived to 188yrs old.

There is another tortoise, Adwaita, whose age is still being verified. It is believed that Adwaita might be 256yrs old!
