He-Man or Super Man shaped police is really our expectation on physical appearance of our police personnel. But what to do! But some of them and not all of them too grow in free shapes as age advances, as it happens in the case of civilians. I believe police dept. rectifies this 1. by periodical training and 2. by posting free shaped Police persons in less vigilant duties.

But the necessity of certification of teachers warrants careful consideration. Knowledge now a days changes on hourly basis because of continuous research programmes by universities and corporates. The products of a school or college will come out only with stale informations if the teachers are not updated in a systematic way.

During annual vacations teachers, tutors, lectureres, professors must undergo appropriate training for not less than a period of 15 days and get updated on latest advances.

In case of Chartered Accountants this training and certification has been made mandatory for their continuance in practise. Updating systems for teachers should also be developed with such rigidity. That will help the Industries as well as students.

Yes, absolutely!
Imagine a policeman with a paunch chasing a crook; from the types of policemen paunches i have seen, they might just start obscuring their vision!!
Checking up on teachers is vital too. If we have the teachers themselves giving wrong or inadequate information to the students, how will we have an educated society which we are in dire need of???

Who should test? who should judge?
Another system to corrupt higher officials.
Teachers in private schools and colleges are better because the head master/mistress or principal fire them if the students complain against the teachers and others (HOD or other teachers) also accept that a new teacher cannot capture the class. But in Government offices this is difficult to do.
Police men who become fat and lazy after a few days in the job need to be monitored..! by honest officials.

dear marcy, your answer was arrogant and in bad taste. The Q
that has been asked is about Teachers and Policemen. Why to drag the parents. You have used abusive language on the parents to mask the truth-'stupid parents' 'dump moron children on the street' Don't we know even to pour a glass of water. Then how come we cook. I hope that you were not 'dumped' on the street .A teacher is expected to teach not only the subjects, but also decency, ethics etc.{if people like you know what they are} Would you be happier,if parents{preferably who have parenting skills and know how to pour water in a glass} like us be educated by you rather than our kids..At least would you take responsibility for the children who are away from us staying in your hostels? This forum is only for interaction and not for war of words. Please be calm and respond in a responsible manner.

It is not only for police but for the entire nation to be physically fit and healthy. Instead of blaming teachers, the education system should be modernised and encourage open minded approach instead of a rote learning process. In the present system in India, nothing much can be done.

It is about time someone thought of giving a better deal, better pay and facilities to the police and to the teachers. Many teachers are abused and paid meagre salaries and the society looks down upon them, this should change

All police are required to meet certain standards not only physically but also on weapons use and shooting skills.

All teachers are required to complete a certain amount of hours credit before they can get their certification renewed.

Both have evaluations annually. And even teachers with tenure can be out of a job if their evaluations are poor.
