I like ones that are set in about 18th century Europe or so with artistocrats, such as Marie Antoinette. I also like Casanova, The Notebook, Wuthering Heights, and Pride & Prejudice. I'm looking for movies that were made more recently in the 21st century-- any recommendations?

You would LOVE "The Scarlet Pimpernel" It was made in the 80's but it is awesome. Look for the version with Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour. The other versions aren't as good.

Trust me, you'll love it. EVERYONE who I know who has seen it thinks it's one of the best movies.

plot: (no spoiler) During the bloody French Revolution, a VERY rich Englishman takes it upon himself to rescue innocent aristocrats from the guillotine. He calls himself the Scarlet Pimpernel, and must conceal his secret identity by pretending to be very dumb. (which makes for some very funny scenes). He falls in love with a beautiful french woman, but when wed, he finds he cannot trust her with his secret. Watch them fall in love a second time!

A MUST see. It has a little bit of humor, romance, derring-do, swashbuckling, adventure, suspence.
