huh?

What is talking "white"?
Do you mean speaking in an academic tone but conversing about contrite material? Everone does that from time to time.
There is no talking white, or talking black either.

What about the white girls who try to sound ghetto? It all has to do with education and your upbringing. It should not be a matter of sounding white or black. You probably have great parents who raised you the right way and made sure you received the proper education that you need in life. Ignore what people say and be proud of yourself.

I was watching Barack Obama speak about this issue. In a lot of mainstream black culture it is seen as white to talk with proper grammar and not to use slang. This is a very serious issue because it is not white to talk like this, however it is correct. Somehow we need to promote proper speech so that bad grammar does not give the black culture a bad image.

Don't worry about it. Those people are jealous and feel inferior.

I have been told I sound white all my life. It's not about being white, it's about being articulate and educated.

I have a strong command of the English language and I'm proud that I do.

If people don't like that...they will get over it.

Using Ebonics or slang isn't going to get you any where so, continue to speak as you have been.

It's a shame that educated and articulate Blacks get socked from both sides.

Talk how you want...who cares what they say. There is absolutely nothing wrong with talking proper, it just shows that you are more intelligent than some others. I don't understand why someone would classify your race by the way you talk. That just sounds like someone who is jealous of you. Be yourself, and if someone can't appreciate that, then they're not worth the time anyways.

I know what you are saying, it is really not a question for me of white vs black or black vs white. Try always to be the best you can in all things and that includes speach.

When I moved to this area of Florida and started going to a new high school that had a lot more diversity, I got the same thing from blacks and hispanics. Just ignore the ignorance.

Now you know sister girl that as soon as one of us starts to talk with any kind of good grammar or intelligence, here comes the criticism. Best thing to do is remove yourself physically from people who are critical of you when it is none of their business--if you cant do it physically, do it mentally and emotionally

Just ignore their ignorance.

If they want to be rude, forget 'em. I didn't know that talking proper was "talking white".
How ridiculous.
Have a good day sweetie and don't let that get to you.

Thank you. ^>^
