payed my frat initiation dues which are used so that I am recognized by the national offices. This money that i payed was not sent to national to initiate me but rather spent on other things that I was never told about . Is there a way to get that money back and if not what advice can anyone give me on what to do in this situation.

first, congrats on becoming a greek! i wish you luck! now, were you ever initiated? are you sure they went to other things? thats not right, your paperwork and fees need to be sent to the national office so they know about you. without it, its like you never crossed. and that would be horrible! talk to the treasurer of your frat, tell him(or her if its a co-ed) that you were wondering about it. do not accuse your new brothers in stealing or being dishonest. say something like, "oh, i forgot to write down that amount, what was it again? and what does it go to?" ask questions. and then if you are sure they spent it on something else, ask about those too. how the frat spends and gets things is your business as a brother. and if they tell you your money was sent off and everything is fine and you don't believe it, call nationals or the rep of your area/district (every org is diff) and ask them. and again, don't say your brothers took your money unless you are 100% sure. just ask the office if all your paperwork is in and complete. make it seem like you are just an eager new brother ready to show off your new letters and you want to do it legally. if they say no, then, present this info to your chapter. tell nationals to expect all your paper work and fees within 5 days. and tell your brothers nationals is aware of the problem. that should cover you and they will send it over. if they don't, tell your advisor, someone, because stealing is not right, especially from your own brother! and i know those fees are not cheap!

Contact the national office. They'll want documentation, though.
