Actually, I do read the intro; but never the first time I read the book, since the intros usually give away half the plot! And that's dumb. If I do read the intro, it's the second or third time I've read the book, and I'm just incredibly bored.

I never read the intro. (Other than the one to THHGTTG, anyway. But that's 'cuz it was as funny as the book itself.) What's the point? I don't care how the author came up with the idea, or how he/she went about gathering information or whatever else intros generally contain. I just want the end result.

I do because it could tell about the characters of the book and how they got to the place their at when you start the book.

yea I do, sometimes they can be very interesting, if they are very long though I read the first few pages and if it captured my interest I keep reading, and if not I skip the rest.
