1. it is the computer's form of a math notebook.
2. We use it to write numbers (Adjust the cell width so it resembles her math book)
3. We use it to write number names (again adjust the cells for numbers & test adjacent where she can fill up)
4. We can use it to fill in missing numbers
5. Use it to Add/Subtract numbers (don't show formulas, this will deviate the child and make things more difficult for you) make her do the addition & subtraction manually, the thrill the child gets is that she's using the computer to do her problem solving, it also get the child involved in the problem solving
Once you're done with this stuff distract her to a game or maybe the paint program this saves you a lot of more trouble you can run into!!!
This is just a clue, you will have to use your imagination further, maybe refer her math text and get her to do her home work in excel. Children love trying different stuff and i'm sure she'll go blah blah in school the next day telling her friends that she did her homework with the help of a computer...

I would say that it's called a "spreadsheet" program and that it does a lot with numbers. You can also make a list of names and addresses. She might want to tinker with at aspect of excel.
