If you have the drivers that came with them you can just stick one in a time and when the menu pops up it will show you some options of what to installl. Install those. Another option is to go to the manafucture website and download the drivers from there. Fourth option is to go into control panel and unistall them. Then restart your computer and your computer will detect them. To behonest I see installing cd-rw and cd-dvd software as optional. You can always use almost any software with them. Another option if your confident enough this would probably solve your problem. Turn off your pc and open your pc case up. Don't forget to ground yourself by grabing part of the case wall with one hand at the top where the panel goes . Then with the other hand disconnect the power and cables to the cd-dvd and cd-rw also make sure you remember exactly which one goes in which. Restart pc. Shut pc down. Then replug in power to two drives and plug in cables. Boot up or power up pc. If you never opened up your case before I would hold off on that option. Open up control panel. Then click on tab for hardware. Then click open device manager and it will show which devices are working. If it does not show your two drives there could be some lose connections. Also I forget to ask you if your drives where internal or external? Now as far as you saying you unistalled your two drives did they disappear or did you click unistall on them. Or I mean how did this happen. If you unistalled these if you restart your pc they should reappear. Ok I think I know the eaiset way to solve this problem ok go into system restore and click on restore to an earlier check point or time. restore your computer to a week before you unistalled your drivers this should fix your problem with such ease. Hope this helped.

Go check your device manager or reboot the computer. A lot of times on XP machines the New Hardware wizard will detect something new and automatically install it for you
To check the device manager:
start > control panel > system > Performance and Maintenance > hardware tab > there should a box that says Hardware Manager somewhere near the top of that page.
There should be a group called DVD/CD-Rom drives. See if there are any yellow exclamation points indicating error. From this point you can also right click on the drive to reinstall and select the install option.

If you are running XP you could use system restore to go back to a time prior to the accidental uninstallation.

What you 'uninstalled' was the 'driver'.... Typically, you just reboot the computer and it will find the drivers automagically. If you deleted any associated software, you'll have to reinstall it.
