I can't add anything much to what's already been said, but I would encourage you to go to the library or Amazon and get a copy of a book I have called EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE: Why it can matter more than IQ by Daniel Goleman if you really want to know more about the subject.

In the book he discusses the emotional brain, the nature of emotional intelligence, how to apply it and windows of opportunity. So many people these days have poor control of their emotions; they quit their jobs because of something someone says to them, they lash out at their families who are trying to help them. and often they are their own worst enemy.

If you or someone you love is having a problem, this book might help you to better understand what is going on and then know how to change it.
Good luck.

What can be affected is your performance. what happens is that, when you have social, personal, marital, or any kind of problems, you have several things to think about at the same time. It is obvious that, if you are given an IQ test, you will show a lower level than the one you really have, since you won't be able to focus 100% on it.

Most definitely. I am trained to give IQ tests to children and adults. It can be very difficult, especially with a child, to get dependable results if the child has the problems you mentioned.
