compared to a cell of lower activity status..Any thoughts?

Well, the main changes to a nucleus usually occur during mitosis, where the nuclear envelope disappears and the nucleus becomes "a part" of the cytoplasm.

However, other than this not many structural changes. Most of the changes occur within the DNA, during transcription or replication if need be. If transcription occurs then the RNA leaves the nucleus via the pores and enters the cytoplasm.
