I mean, he was all beat up after getting frazzled by the Emperor, and Darth Vader must weigh a bloody ton! And don't say he lifted him up using the Force. Bollocks. You have to be in a state of deep concentration to focus the power of the Force, not easy whie dragging a huge half-dead cyborg to an Imperial shuttle while the Death Star falls to buts around you.

Luckily, Luke's an avid electronics fan. Using spare parts from the now battered Death Star, he creates a remote control with which to control Darth's cybernetics, allowing him to walk him to the shuttle. Also being huge fan of the hit movie "Weekend at Bernies", Luke is able to fool the no doubt heavy Stormtrooper presence at the Shuttle Bay by pretending his dad is, in fact, still alive.
