My bike blew a hole in the piston and as its under warrenty i brought it back to the dealer, who then informed me he was putting a honet 250 engine into it as they are the very same appart from some tunning issues whitch he assured me he will rectify. AM I BEING DONE? SHOULD I DEMAND MY MONEY BACK, A DIFFERNT BIKE OR A CBR SPECIFIED ENGINE? I find it hard to believe that honda would use parts that similar for a sports bike as a commuter athough i can understand the acual engine block. ah i dont Know can anyone shead some light on this

The 900 Hornet engine is just a detuned CBR-900RR Fireblade engine.

The 600 Hornet engine is just a detuned CBR-600RR engine.

The 250 Hornet engine is just a detuned CBR-250RR engine.

The ports are slightly smaller and the cams have a differant lift, and the carbs are set differant, I personally wouldn't except the engine if it was almost the same why cant a hornet keep up withh the RR?

I doubt the dealer is going to take on the extra work of making the wrong engine fit. It's probadly much like when I put a cavilier 2.2 in a sunfire that had a 2.2, or vise versa.

No you are not being done, its the same 250 4stroke engine, as long as he re-tunes it you will be ok.
