Okay maybe I should have asked, Is the American Civil War still going on, is the South holding a Grudge, Does the North act superior

It matters very, very much indeed. The Civil War was the defining moment in our history with repercussions we'll feel for years and years yet to come. While I did have an ancestor who owned slaves, I portray a Union surgeon at Civil War reenactments across New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. My wife portrays a Sanitary Commission worker, and our first reenactment this year will be near Elmira, New York, site of one of the most notorious prisoner-of-war camps. It was every bit as bad as Andersonville - the unfortunates who were incarcerated there called it "Hellmira!"
