during the menstral bleeding is pretty safe, also about 3-4 days after.. anything after that is not that safe as women can ovulate on different days of thier cycle, it's not always predictable, if you really do not want a baby it's much better to use some form of birth control instead of just trying to guess. if you really are against birth control, you can use Natural Family Planning (NFP) to avoid pregnancy, but the woman has to learn to chart her fertility signs as well as basal body temperature for a couple of months before actually using the method to avoid pregnancy, this method does not have as high as a sucess rate for birth control as hormonal methods or condoms.

there really isn't a safe time at all. Many women have irregular periods. Some women ovulate early in the cycle or closer to the end of the cycle. If you are concerned about not getting prenant either use condoms,or some other type of contraceptive,or better yet just don't have intercourse.
But for most women usually 2 weeks before the next cycle begins they are most fertile.

I would go with 10 days before her period. It says that a sperm can live in a woman 5 days before she has her cycle and drops an egg,go to pregnancy.com.Also remember that every woman 's body is not the same when it comes to there cycle,so you know the safest and smartest way not to have a baby is if she is on birth control and you have a condom.

Unless you are using at the very least a condom, and at best a condom for the man and another form of birth control for the woman, you should not be having sex.
This is the adult decision for an adult relationship, do you know how many unwanted/unplanned babies are born from supposed safe time of the month sex. I doubt I can type high enough numbers without being sick to my stomach.
Be smart and safe. This is for both of you.

It depends on the woman's ovulation. Abstaining from sex during ovulation is known as natural family planning. She will have to track her cycles and figure out when she ovulates. Usually 14 days after her period, but every woman is different.
