Which of these Wheat Pennies is the rarest?

1.) 1946 (no mint marking)
2.) 1954-D
3.) 1942 (no mint marking)
4.) 1958-D

I want to know which one of the four i should keep because i only have enough room for one. All the others will go into my bank account. Please tell me using mintage numbers or maybe how rare they are. Thanks.

Well mintage is only one thing that makes a coin rare or scarce. It's grade counts also. It is a toss up between the 1942 and 1954-D. Keep the one that is in the best condition. Another factor people don't think of is how many were saved. A lot of the first year and last year of a coin are saved, but what about the middle years or years that the mintage figure is high. Coins in high grade from those years go up in price, for there are less nice coins around. I didn't give mintage figures for someone else already did. One more thing to make my point on grade rarity, a 1945 Mercury dime in high circulated grade can be bought for a dollar or two, If that coin is mint state 65 with full bands it has a wholesale price of around $8,000 to $8,700.

1946 no mint mark had a mintage of 991,655,000
1954D had a mintage of 251,552,500
1942 no mint mark had a mintage of 657,796,000
1958D had a mintage of 800,953,300

I hope this helps

It now expenditures extra to make a penny that that's nicely worth. quickly - the recent pennies - will look like the steel pennies in WW II. i admire the extensive silver dollar - it was once the sign of a playing holiday to Reno - an prolonged time in the past - till now they switched to those gaudy chip issues. The friendly Susan B's - with reference to the size of one / 4 - how many cases did I very very nearly provide out 2 (2) to purchase a newspaper? ?
