I just found out that an old friend of mine is in jail in the "Phillipines" for a drug offence. I looked up drug laws in that country and they are very harsh! All I know is he is there somewhere. Is there any where on the internet I could look to find his whereabouts? I'm in Canada.

Might want to contact your Embassy in Manila. I lived there and worked with the NBI at Fort Buenafacio in Manila. I would suicide myself if I ever had to do more than a hour in their penal system. They only spend about 10 cents US a day per prisoner for food. I really hope he has family to send him some chow.

Pretty tough situation. Find out the contact information for the Canadian Embassy in the Phillipines and call them and tell them your situation.

Try contacting the Canadian Consulate in Manila, or the U.S. Consulate if he is American. They should be able to find him, and possibly also get him a lawyer.
