Honey, periods are natural! Trust me, your mom will know even if you try and hide it. Moms know these things.
There is no reason to be scared. Every girl gets them. Your mom went through it, too.
Just relax. You're OK! :D
Congratulations and here's a hug!

There is no reason for her not to know. I told my dad when it happened (how embarassing was that but he was the only one around). Plus, how long do you really want to do the tissue stuff? Or how long do you think before she is going to notice femine products disappearing from the cabinet? Sweetheart, this is a sign of becoming a woman and you should be proud. It's natural, and been happening since the beginning of womankind. Plus she may be a little more sympathetic to the mood swings you will be experiencing instead of thinking you are just being a brat...lol.

Ok,
First of all.....your mom has had many of her own. A period isn't anything to be ashamed of. Most young women will get then in the early teen years.
It's ok to trust your mom with this. Believe me it will set up a bond that will allow you to talk to your mom about so many other things more severe than a period.

I understand that this may be an awkward topic to bring up with your mother, especially if you're not close. However, having a period is normal!! Remember that! Don't try to sneak it. Chances are your mom can help you figure out what to do and how to manage it.
Best of luck.

It is perfectly natural and you shouldn't be scared to tell your mom. That being said, I can remember when I first got mine, I was afraid to tell too! I snuck pads out of my mom's bathroom but when she realized they were missing she knew anyway. You could just tell her that you are embarrassed but you started your period and you need to go to the store for supplies. I know it is a big deal for you but it won't be for your mom. She has been expecting it I'm sure!

Don't be scared. Every female has a period and talking to your mom will help - she's had her period since long before you were even thought of.

Why don't you want your mom to know?
Its a natural part of a woman to menstruate.
If you live with your mom there will be NO way to hide it. the pads, the tampon paper, will be obvious that you are menstruating.

Unless your Carrie.....you have nothing to worry about. Starting your period will not make your mom think you have been having sex. It is completely NORMAL....you should actually share it with your mom so that she can help you through it and talk to you about it!

I didn't want my mom to know either.
I was embarassed, and my mother and I aren't that close.
You have to tell your mom though, because trust me hon, she'll find out.
All you have to do, is casually bring it up in the hygene section of the store, or talk to her about it sometime casual.
It's not that hard, and tell her you really don't want to make a big deal of it.
