Contaact the manufacturer. If it was a recall fault and yours has gone they will have it on record if your particular car had the remedial work done under recall. If not they should, in theory, pay for it to be done by a franchised dealer. If not, then that's life.

Dealers only give out 3 or 6 month warranties i have found, if it was a manufacturing fault on the model then there is usually a call back period made by the manufacturer so that owners of the car with the problem can get it repaired by the manufacturer free of charge, ring the manufacturer and ask them.

The dealer doesn't have to do anything as you didn't take out a warranty plus if you did the warranty would of expired as they are only required to give out 3 month warranties unless the car was sold as seen therefore no warranty is offered by the dealer.

Ain't gonna happen! Used cars are generally sold with 30 day warranties however, many states have their own regulations regarding used car warranty! Before you spend a fortune on anything you need to ask yourself one question- Did you run that car to the point it overheated to the boiling stage? If you did and the car has significant mileage you might want to consider Power Pro Engines for a rebuilt motor! They are the best in the business from my experiences and you get the best warranty for the best price! They stand behind what they sell! I have used many of their engines and they have always given me 100%!!!
Putting a head gasket in an engine that was overheated is not a good choice! Besides the fact the head is probably warped and cracked, you have also scorched the cylinder walls among other things to which that engine will be nothing but future problems!
I am not aware of any manufacturer recalls for any make or model vehicle regarding "head gasket problems"! Besides the fact the dealer will insist you ran the engine HOT!
People are supposed to "watch" the gauges and turn the engine off before it gets hot! That's why manufacturers moved away from what we in the industry refer to as "idiot gauges"- a light that just flashes to indicate a problem but doesn't allow you specific information-like temperature, oil pressure, etc! Many drivers realize their car is overheating when they see the cloud of steam from under the hood! That's WAY TOO LATE!!!!!!!

you will possibly % to learn the cooling gadget as that's regularly the reason for the gasket failure. you will possibly % to have compression assessments achieved on the motor vehicle and vacuum assessments additionally.. you will possibly % to get it at a low priced and it would be plenty extra ideal to keep away from it completely. the driving force that omitted a foul cooling concern maximum possibly has prevented periodic maintenance on the excellent vehicle. do no longer purchase somebody else's concern. in case you think approximately it extra locate out the place the activity grew to become into achieved and if the heads have been machined and the valves replaced as needed. I certainly have one vehicle saved interior the backyard left with the help of a guy or woman who had the heads achieved with the help of an incompetant guy or woman. I certainly have yet another vehicle saved because of fact some previous awful mechanic positioned rain-moist bolts into the engine and that they rust and one broke off later while being bumped off for an hassle-free activity that has in no way been finished. look someplace else, who desires to pay for a concern.

If there was a fault, check for a recall. Though they usually only recall safety related issues. Is the person who told you that there was a manufacturing fault someone that would know? Unfortunatly, the manufacturer is not obligated to fix the car.

Let me guess. It's either a Buick or Pontiac.
They are famous for headgaskets. What happens is the gasket is to thin on one corner where the coolant runs through a channel, this causes the coolant to leak into the oil. You'd be looking at about $700-$1400 depending on whether you take it to a dealer or local garage.

Do a search if no recall then you will be out of luck. If you bought it from a dealer of that brand of car ask for some good faith work that you are a loyal what ever brand and have drove that brand of car for years. Sometimes they will cut you a discount.
