yea...I wonder whats it would be like to be like Canada or Switzerland....take care of our own issues...I guess i would only be a dream...

Not when it comes to the tremendous amount of aide we give other nations. And with terrorist on our own soil, how do we "isolate" from that? Welcome to the rest of the world's reality and the first day of the rest of our lives.
As for your question on Isolationist? Maybe it's a question of Imperialism ...
Imperialism is heaving in its last dying breaths. The domination models are dead and displaced: Egypt & Babylon to Nazi German & Communist Russia. Imperial design is on its way out. More countries (as well as US citizens) are united in their revulsion of USA superpower swagger.
Will we remain separated in Northern America or join like the Europeans? An alliance makes sense on many levels as we've been neighbors for quite a while now. Canada would not make such a full alliance when imperialist values are still in play. And Mexico, although poor, will not slave wage itself for weapons for the Gringo empire. As the USA imperialism retires, a North American Alliance would naturally (and by treaty) become stronger.
It is no longer possible for USA to isolate.

The World will survive.
London has already overtaken New York as the centre of international business.
The US will take a tremendous dip in the standard of living.

Look at the mess those who created it for themselves in their own backyards and could not come up with a solution for solving their own misery out there in planet of apes.
Ever wonder why others has to go in and clean up the mess for them while getting kick on the butts for that in planet of apes.
Look around who were clubbing one another like a cave-men and called themselves the greatest modern civilization in making a monkey out of themselves when they were still primitive living in caves blind as a bat hanging upside down in planet of apes.

The problem is that things that happen around the world often effect us. I wish it wasn't true. We could then just allow most of the shithole countries we prop up with foreign aid to just sink into oblivion and be done with it.

Lets find out. How about we stop all foreign aid for a period of 5 years. No more wiping away of debt that countries owe us and no more free cash give aways. Then we will see who needs who.
