This is the capitalist system in all its glory, people in debt up to there eyeballs, brainwashed to take on loans by the banks etc. I went into my building society to withdraw some money and I got a lot of hassle from the teller to take out a credit card, to top it off there are leaflets constantly pushed through my letter box offering loans etc. It is a virtual pressure process from all the money lenders and big businesses.
I honestly think with all this sh-- going on, a law should be passed enabling borrowers to pay back in there own good time, without any interest, the money borrowed by this sort of bank pressure selling. Tough luck if the banks dont cover there costs!!!
Anyone agree!

As another said the Jones are in debt. That house that is way to big, that newest car, kids have to have the new game that will be half price in a month, etc. etc. incur debt and therefore interest. Money given away rather than invested making money.

There are many familes though who do get this and tell the kids NO. The kids learn that they may have to skip a few things until they can get the on thing they truly value. Think about what happens to the kids who get everything and anything when they get out into the real world.

Also say someone has an illness, loses their job, recks a car etc. Are the Jones going to be there to help?

Plus I would rather not buy the latest video game station right when it comes out or the new $50 game every two weeks for example. Better to take the kids on a trip, learn something and learn more about life and people and there are many ways to have fun in life. This is more valuable than some piece of electronics that will be outdated in 12 months. My parents did this for me...... something of which I will always be grateful. This helped me to be succesfull later in life and be able to buy my own toys........ and be able to appreciate them and life in general.

The best thing you can give children is your time and love. Nothing else matters. When they grow up they won't remember not having had the latest playstation, but they will remember if you ignored them.
Sod the Jones!. I worked in a food shop and we had the Joneses types come in. Always the newest car, the biggest house, the most exotic holidays. The true giveaway to their poverty was what food they bought, 2oz of the cheapest cuts, out of date stuff etc etc. This wasn't thrift, it was wrong priorities.
I went round one day and found them sitting on orange boxes!!. The kids looked like starved rats.
Buy what you can afford. eat well, drive an old car, so what, it does the same as a new one, but most of all, have fun.

Keeping up with the Joneses is NOT what you want. The Joneses only LOOK like they are doing well, in fact they are in debt to their eyeballs. I drive an old beater but people have no idea how well I'm really doing. Why? Cuz I don't spend frivolously and try to LOOK like i have money. Check out my web sites.

Debts have the reputation of ruining families and one's life. Sad but its a reality. It seems that people are spending more than they earned thus the sad scenario.
