We all have a uniform to wear in my family...I wear mine for work as does my hubby and my kids to school and i am so glad, as it saves money on clothes for school/work and I don't have to keep spending money to help my kids fit in with the latest trends. I don't have that worry of ...what am I wearing today!. I think kids look smart and behave well when in uniform and they perform well as it gives them a senses of being. I think uniforms that allow young girls to roll their skirts up to make them mini shouldn't be allowed and make up on kids going to school. I saw a child walking to school with fishnet tights, rolled up skirt and a face plastered with make up DA-vinci could of signed it! You had to look at her twice cos you wouldn't have believed she was 13.

Uniforms are just a way for kids to be in line and learn discipline in simple ways with out implicating complications.A class room has more no of pupils and kids grasp everything that's around. They have a lot to learn about friendships, people, books at all. think about what would happen if the dress code is removed,Will all the students feel the same ? No Some will have inferirity complex and some superiority as they have more money, good clothes etc. Do you want your child to get through this stage at an early stage or at a later stage when he has more understanding of the world around him? This kind of feelings exist in teenagers and they get depressed ,suicidal et all in College. Do you think this age is a very limit and should be brought to 5-6 years. Then great we should remove the Uniforms. In todays age people spend less time with children. In such cases it would be more responsibility on the teachers for no fault of theirs.

Of course its a good idea because it not only covers up who is rich and who is poor but also stops those students and especially teenagers from feeling bad who are not allowed to wear tight or transparent clothes for religious reasons while others would be showing off their body wearing unsuitable clothes. But there are some rules like "You must tie your whole hair back and leave no strands out," which I find really silly.
Uniform is a good way to make all students feel equal, but i think it would be good if students were allowed to wear coloured clothes at least once a term.

A study published in The Journal of Education Research by David L. Brunsma, of the University of Alabama, and Kerry A. Rockquemore, of the University of Notre Dame, found that student uniforms neither improved attendance and discipline nor decreased drug use. Uniforms did not significantly improve academic performance or students' attitudes toward school. Peer-group relations were not improved. The study also found that uniforms had a negative effect on student attitudes.
Many people believe adoption of school uniform policies will lead to increased school safety, student discipline, and student learning. More specifically, many have argued that school uniforms assist in reducing school violence and theft; preventing gang activity, such as students wearing gang colors and gang insignia; providing discipline in students; helping students to concentrate on their school work; helping students to resist peer pressure; and helping school officials easily recognize school intruders.
In a survey of the United Teachers of Dade County, Florida, approximately 60% of the group's members supported mandatory uniforms for school children.Similarly, of the 5,500 principals surveyed as attendees of the National Association of Secondary School Principals' annual conference in February 1996, more than 70% believed that requiring students to wear uniforms to school would reduce violent incidents and discipline problems. Moreover, greater than 80% of Long Beach Press-Telegram readers supported school uniforms.
Some school personnel believe students and teachers tend to behave the way they are allowed to dress.Instead of adopting a policy for mandatory school uniforms, several schools have adopted a mandatory dress code policy for teachers as well as students, which aims to establish clear appearance and behavioral standards for all.

Well,i think its nessesary as it keeps uniformity and discipline in students. And when they go for a picnic or go out somewhere its easy to make out who is from which school as the school has a uniform code. But the students should be allowed to wear colour clothes at times as wearing the same kind of clothing every year makes them want to wear different clothes other than their uniform(like they should be allowed to wear colour dress on their birthday or childrens day or any oter occasion).

My son (7 years old) wears uniforms to school and I love it. There is no discussion about what he is going to wear in the morning and it also puts all children on a level playing field. Nobody can tell by their clothes who has how much money.
I love it.

yes!! because at schools that dont wear uniforms, kids are wasting money trying to fit in by wearing designer clothes (American Eagle, Abercrombie, Juicy Couture, Holister) and if you don't have enough money to buy those kind of things, then you just dont fit in. and when you wear uniforms, it is easy because all you have to do is wake up in the morning and put on the same thing every day.

yes i believe it's a good idea, don't most people in the working world wear some type of uniform. aside from that it makes everyone equal as far as clothing goes, less distraction to the learning process, which is why thier there to begin with.

I'm 50/50, because: everyone looks the same, and no one can make fun of what others wear, but you'll have to wash it A LOT, and it might be a pain, plus the outfits could be reallu ugly
