Resident Evil 4 injured dog question?

Near the start of the game, I freed an injured dog from a trap, and he ran away. Does he turn up again later?

Yes it will help you aginst El giganté a big ogre that will be a bit defucult to kill the dog will distract him for ya while you shoot him my advice for you get closer to him & use your shot gun but carful if grabs you he will dry you like a wet towl
I loved that game & im playing it on pc though it's not good adapted but it's ok though.

yeah, when u fight the first El Gigante, after you take a couple of shots of said giant, there will be this mini scene where you see the dog jump in. He doesn't really help, but he works as a distraction so you can shoot and not have to worry too much.
