The basic idea is plain and simple - you keep track of attempts and misses or goals, do the division, and you are there. But then players can still score when fouled, i.e. for a three- or four-point play. Is it a field goal attempt when you are fouled while shooting or do the attempts and misses or goals not count towards the FG%?

It only counts as a FG if you are fouled and you make it. If you are fouled and miss it, it does not count toward FG%

basically any shot you shot that is not a FT is a FG...also 3's don't count as a FG, so just do the division like you said...also when you make a 2 and get fouled then make the foul shot the fout shot counts as your FT%...
