It's all because most of the team is made up of the members of EPL's top competative clubs and they are not willing to put their league rivalry aside for their country which is a disgrace. rooney, rio and nevile are from manU which is currently topping the EPL and on the other side there's terry, lampard, and the coles who are in chelsea and are just behind manU and what do u kno theres also gerrard from liverpool which is third in the league!!! All of these players and clubs have huge rivalrys between them so they do not bond well together.

That McClaren dude just can't seem to find the right pieces for his puzzle even if they're all there! Yes, maybe he should call Beckham. Even if it may not seem like it, the spirit was in Becks. He actually put all the weight on his shoulders and showed good leadership. They've been failing ever since Becks got out. Remember England-Portugal? Where was Becks? Warming the bench! So yeah, they definitely need Becks to help out that good for nothing McClaren!

Israel have lost 1 match in 7 years at that venue I believe. With due respect to Becks, he'd not have made a difference.
McClaren does not have the experience to take England from this black hole nor the guts to change their game from a long ball game to one of small quick passing blended with the effective long ball play when required. He plays his team out of position, experiments too much and even though injury plagued, never fails to ignore the best 11. His positional play made players like Roony and Gerrard ineffective and frankly look useless. Wasted Lennon's speed playing him on the wrong side and off his favored foot, continued to play Gerrard and Lampard together which is a proven non go. He makes their play predictable. Outside of that I don't think the players have confidence in him or his game plan and take that hopelessness onto the pitch. I'm going to stop there or this answer will go on for ever. Sad result for the players and the fans.

The main problem is not whether Beckham is there or not. It's McClaren himself! I think he has spoken too much and English supporters demand too much.

Beckham is still an influential player, but I think due to his age, he cannot perform his role as a winger like before. He can be a superb "secret weapon", a supersub. England can play him when they need a critical goal, because he can execute set-pieces perfectly, like no one on earth. England need good wingers and full-backs, because their style depends heavily on flank players, but now they are running out of this kind of players.

it really leaves me wondering too... the matches against teams such as israel is guaranteed three points (no disrespect to israel)...

but i am really not sure what's wrong with england now... the english players are worldclass... or they may have been overrated that's why they can't put away their chances...

mcclaren is not getting his tactics right as well...

there's really no one to blame, but sure is time to look at the engling football system and overhaul it if need be..
