Help with a 8th grade math problem??

Karl bought five folders from Pay-A-Lot at a cost of $2.50 each. Pay-A-Lot had a 20%-off sale the following day. How much could Karl have saved on the purchase by waiting a day???

This question is not specific enough, it doesen't say specifically if Karl would have saved 20% on 1 folder, or 5 folders. Therefore you can't arrive at an accurate answer. All 5 would have given him a 2.50 savings. Just multiply 2.50 by 5 folders you get 12.50 now take 12.50 and multilply that by .20 and you will get 2.50. Not exactly sure how that can be 8th grade math though, too simple, maybe 4th grade.

I like to figure percentages by doing the simplest first 10%, 25%, etc. and figuring from there.
