If you look on a typical RJ45 punch down receptacle there is usually a color code printed on them. Consisting of two rows labeled A and B with each position showing a diagonal line with two colors

Basically network cable has two different color codes and there are two different ways to connect an RJ45 connector. (A total or 4 combinations)

The A & B styles of hook up mean that a straigh connection uses the same pattern on both ends ( AtoA OR BtoB) a Cross over uses one of each (A to B).

So if you do not have a Leviton receptical to look at which has the color codes printed on it. Then use one of the below links and verify the cable colors with the diagram. If different then you can do a best match and ID the odd colors to the diagram

You could use a USB crossover cable.
Ziotek 5-in-1 USB & Network Kit

USB is slower than Ethernet.
CAT5e Crossover Cable, W/ Boot 14ft
10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter

if your not using a hub you will need a cross over cable , you can make one if you have the correct tools to do so , or go to any computer center to buy one

also remember just because , you have a cross over cable you still need to set the ip (private) and create a work group

i swear the answers i see here . are enough to make me die of laughter , there is no such thing as a usb cross over cable , because you cannot transfer data from pc to pc over usb , because there is no ip established for them to communicate !!
